Local Santa Ana Photographer and Doula Karissa Raya has done an amazing project of photographing families across Santa Ana during COVID-19.
An upcoming showcase in Downtown Santa Ana will be featured in an outdoor gallery on August 20th from 4-8 pm at the Callejon del Beso Outdoor Gallery at Bush and 4th Next to Las Casuelas Restaurant. 312 N Bush St, Santa Ana, CA 92701
Karissa wrote: "Porch portraits originally began as the “Front Step Project” and it spread so fast amongst photographers. When I became aware of it I noticed something in the hashtag on Instagram… for the most part, nuclear families in front of single family homes and lacking in diversity. I set an intention to document families in my community, diverse, blended and represent more families. I set an intention in late spring 2020 to document Santa Ana families in a series of Porch Portraits. I documented over 30 Santa Ana families on their porch, outside of their apartment or on their balcony."
